History

The Foreign Language Center in Nan Kai University of Technology was originally established in February 1, 2009. The director and assistant of FLC will be designated by the president to devote their professionalism and passion to helping students pass English benchmark requirement for graduation.  Located on the fourth floor of Teaching Building, Foreign Language Center is where all the students can search for information and ask for help. The major mission of FLC has been to develop English proficiency among non-English majors so that students will be able to use the tool in communicative contexts and, most importantly, their future careers. Currently, group teaching of Freshmen English is applied in accordance with learners’ aptitudes. With regard to elective courses, courses of other languages such as Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese are also offered.

Mission Statement
The mission is primarily to ensure that all non-English majors in NKUT are fully equipped with the professional know-how as well as the international vision to compete and stand out in the future job markets. At the NKUT Language Center, we offer both an academic curriculum and a wide variety of learning activities designed to meet the I.E.E.E. requirements of non-English majors. We attempt to meet the goal of the missions by providing innovative and creative classroom instruction, simulated English environment for cultural interchange, autonomous learning resources, and testing and consultation services regarding test-related information. The NKUT Language Center implements various programs, staffed by part-time English native speakers. Taking advantage of the Teaching Excellence Plan, the NKUT Language Center is dedicated to cultivating all graduates' English communicative skills and elevating their English proficiency.
